Director of Keitana, Carmel, Israel.

Description

Since its inception, the Kinderhof has reflected the changes and challenges of Israeli society. In the first few years, the survivors of the exploded ship "Patria" were housed there, then the children of those who went to the Jewish Brigade in the British Army, then children who had survived the Shoah, and children from the Ma'abarot, the immigration camps, from Yemen, Iraq, Morocco. Every immigrant group was represented. Allocation was provided by the Youth Aliyah or, in the case of impoverished, disabled or sick parents, by the Social Welfare Office when the children expressed a desire to integrate and progress in the expectant society. After the ebbing of the great waves of immigration, the Kinderhof specialized in psychological care and trained its pupils for various industrial jobs and services.
